For Unit 10 I looked at the brief for hard hitting ads and started planning what i was going to do for my project. I thought of making an ad about the Syrian refugee crisis because it is very topical at the moment and i want to know more about the whole situation . I started to research statistics on the Syrian population and what has happened to it because of the war. I started to research different ad campaigns for refugees for example the Unicef Bring Back The Child campaign.
This ad is very effective because it shows the contrast between a child growing up in a safe country, and a child growing up in a waring third world country. This gives me an idea of how bad the live’s of the children in waring country are.
I started to research artist like Paul M Smith who did photographs of himself or other people cloned within a photo doing different activities that work with each other to create an image that looks alive with people. This image looks like it could be a normal image of a party but it is unusual because all the people within the photo are the same person.
i then decided to make a photo inspired by this concept. We used a camera and took multiple photos of our model, we then put these photos into Photoshop and used the clone tool and painted in each model photo onto the base image to add a clone of the original photo.
Even though i liked the results of my clone image i didn’t want to use it for my final design because it wouldn’t relate to my initial idea.
For this unit i felt like i should’ve done more artist research because it would’ve benefitted me by allowing me to get more inspiration which would’ve enabled me to experiment more with different styles and methods. I should’ve done more analyses within my work so that i could reflect on what i liked about my art pieces and what i could’ve done to improve my designs so that i could develop them further.
For further research i should’ve researched more hard hitting ads because it would give me more off an ideas for my final design it would’ve also given me ideas on what style that i could use to make it more hard hitting. I could’ve also research more graphic designers or photographers so that i could get more design ideas or styles that i would have more development and designs.
for my technical research i couldve used other sources other than the internet like books or museums e.t.c.
In conclusion I felt like I should’ve done more research which could’ve helped me developed my idea further, for example I could’ve had more rough design ideas.
